Festival Season

Posted on by Alexander Vijay Smith

2010 has been an exciting and busy year for Tannis Root.  When the large US festivals announced their lineups, we were happy to see so many of our bands performing. Coachella was a blast, and a very busy time for us because we had 18 bands perform! It was both exciting and hilarious to watch Beyonce and Jay Z, along with their entourage, travel in a fleet of 4 Escalades between the Coachella stages that were each about a city block apart. They seem to have great taste in bands, though. They went back-and-forth from one of our bands to the next: Beach House, then XX, then Dirty Projectors, then MGMT (It was nice to see that Jay Z wasn't angry at MGMT for mentioning in the NY Times, that when he sounded like he was eating crackers when he phoned asking for a track for The Blueprint).

Sasquatch, Pitchfork, and Bonnaroo all look exciting too. And we have a new festival starting in our own backyard: The Hopscotch Festival.  We're very excited about Panda Bear, Broken Social Scene, Public Enemy playing our City Plaza. And just announced yesterday are some great Hollywood Bowl shows.  Hopscotch Festival in early September and then a flight to LA for late September: September 26 7:30 PM Vampire Weekend • Beach House • The Very Best

Thursday, September 30 8:00 PM Hollywood Bowl Pavement • Sonic Youth • No Age
